Hi,
First: thanks to Matthias for this great job.
Today I downloaded the experimental version 2.171a - the total crash I had with 2.17a is gone now but I don't receive a valid wmv-file neither with 2.16a nor 2.171a.
My system is vista home premium, NVIDIA 8600M, FS9.1;
As a first aid I (re)installed Windows Media Encoder - but without any success ...

Does anyone have a good idea?

What happens when you try to open the wmv file that FS recorder produces? Or do you not get a wmv file at all??

I had a problem where I tried to play back a file on a different system. It said I had the wrong codec and could not play the file.........

I simply went to microsoft and found the correct codec - It was a hotfix for XP/Vista X64 systems I think?

One other thing to try - If FS Recorder is producing a wmv file, try playing it on a different system (Windows 7) to see what happens....

Hi and good evening,
thanks for your suggestions and ideas - but screens 's still black.
Moving the file to 2 other Computer also showed black frames only.

The file's size seems to be ok.
I produced a file of 79 sec's, data rate is 6 kBit/s (file properties information);
the file size is 79.2 kB.

Flusirainer, your values are really more realistic than mine - yesterday evening I had no chance for a quick check of wmv data rate beacause I have no other wmv on my system.
So I think there must be a problem with rendering. Theses are the values I read in the actual properties display of the rendered wmv-file:
length: 00:01:19
width: 640
height: 480
data rate: 6 kBit/s
bit rate total: 6 kBit/s
frame rate: 25 frames/second

When rendering I didn't change default settings, codec was Windows Media Video 9 Advanced Proile.

Looks like it's only encoding black frames, which gives a very low data rate in constant quality variable bitrate mode. For some reason the grabbing of frames from the FS window to memory seems to fail. I remember some time ago another user reported the same problem. Unfortunately I currently don't know why this happens on a few systems and how to solve it. Maybe you can help me investigating the problem?

That's the problem! This is far too little.
In my case the Windows Media Player crashes when I a video with only 6 kbit/s reproduces.
