Re: Experimental Video Rendering - UPDATED 8.1.2011

I've been using the new video rendering feature in both FSX and FS9 full time, the last two days and have been getting wonderful results. But a couple of things have happened that I think are worth reporting as feed-back.

Is there any connection with FSRecorder and Javaw.exe? I started getting errors all the time saying that Javaw.exe was having to quit. I deleted and reinstalled the latest version of Java and the errors have gone down quite a bit but haven't disappeared 100 percent.

Second thing I noticed. When trying to make a clip with a propeller engine shutting down, during playback of the FRC file, the propeller stops instantly. It's like the software is going from prop blurred mode directly to prop still mode and completely by-passing the prop move mode.

My OS is windowsXP, home edition

Thanks again for all of the wonderful work that you've done with the FSRecorder module.

I have no idea why this could happen, FS Recorder has nothing to do with Java.

That's probably because FS Recorder only records on/off state of the engine(s), nothing else.

this product should be payware :)

Reluctantly, I'd have to agree! The original FSR - and now this - are awe-inspiring achievements =D>.

However - the moment you start *charging* for something, then the dreaded issue of *support* rears its head. We're fickle people, us consumers, and even if we pay 50c for some software, we expect $500 style support.

If Matthias can afford to keep giving us this software and not have to give up his "day job" then that's fine with me!

I made my first (and only, so far) HD movie yesterday. Truly awesome. I can see this having a *massive* impact on the FS community ... truly. I miss the sound recording functionality - but the quality of the render is brilliant. Maybe you just can't have both - on the average PC at least.

Well done, Matthias!

Hi,
thank you very much for your FS Recorder, it's an add-on that i will use everytime i fly in FSX. :D
Like everyone said, this is amazing how we can keep a lot of FPS, and the quality in our films :o :D
I made two movies thanks to your new update of FS Recorder:

the first with Fs recorder 2.15a  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G2noKdwV ... ture=feedu
it just shows the fluidity which impresses me ^^, and i found no issue :)

the second with Fs recorder 2.16a  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-xNA5HgQmzM
in this one, i saw there was a windows's problem, only when FSX windows was not entirely opened...

I don't know if this thing is fixed in your last update, but it had better to be known :)
(sorry for the quality of my expression, English is not my native language 8-[ i hope you understand me  )

That's exactly why I keep it free, I don't want to have any support commitments, and I don't want to loose the fun I have with the development by angry customers.

Thanks for reporting this, I had a look at it and made some changes, which hopefully will solve the problem.

Made a movie a few days ago using the render function, without it I wouldn't be able to produce it at 30 FPS.

Awesome job.

Hi -- thanks for the renderer. After some quick test in FSX seems to be doing what it should. I do have a couple questions

1. I usually run FSX with frames in FSX at unlimited and the external frame rate limiter set to 24. Is that OK, or should I just run FSX without the limiter. If so, should frames be unlimited or set to a limit in FSX?

2. The frames setting in the renderer -- does that have any affect on the rendering or is it designed just for purposes of the playback of the wmv. I guess what I'm getting at is it defaults at 25 but in the US should we use 30 or 24 based on typical frames on NTSC display, or doesn't that matter?

3. I experimented with capturing sound using audacity. Is there some way to create a sound that could be used for an external camera for synchronization? For internal cams I guess a switch click would work but haven't figured out a way to create a sound that you could see in the video and hear in the audio.
