Status update

Postby noisy » 03 Nov 2010, 18:15

I guess it's time to post some information about the current status:
After a break of a few months I recently started to work again on FS Recorder. On the last weekends I did some work on v2.1 and also on the experimental video rendering and made some good progress.
My current plan is to release the final 2.0 version and the first beta of v2.1 before the end of the year. The video rendering will first be released as an experimental alpha version, probably together with or shortly after v2.1; if it works sufficiently well on most systems it will become part of v2.2.

Good news. Something also would be desirable to try already... :D

It looks attractively. There is a lot of new and interesting!
P.S.: What is a "Chapter point"?

During playback you can jump to the previous/next chapter point, like with the chapters on a DVD.

Thanks, Matthias.
More a small question: how adding of markers to do? In recording time? In dialogue Advanced play? Or at compilation/decompiling? may be some other way?

You can set them during recording (via key shortcut or menu), then they are added to the FRC file you are recording.
You can also set markers during playback, then you can either discard them after playback ends or save them to a new FRC file (which then only contains markers).
The FRC converter will also have support for markers.

Certainly, the crudest beta is better than good pictures. But it is not necessary to hurry the author.

Here's the list of new features in v2.1:

  • option to save flight situation before recording
  • option to load flight situation before playback
  • option to restore situation before playback after playback ends
  • position offset for advanced playback
  • markers: chapter points, play sound, display text, pause
  • fly by mode for spot cameras
  • mouse panning and mouse wheel zoom
  • move focus point for automatic panning
  • panning axes support
  • dialog option and key shortcut for auto/manual panning
  • customizable increments for camera position
  • user interface for autoplay
  • recording and playback of date and time
  • recording of mach speed
  • context menu for advanced play to en/disable all tracks/markers
  • fixed jitter problem with FSX Acceleration

I now have to do some final fixes and testing and finish the manual. If things go well I might release it next weekend.
