FSX Steam edition and Prepar3D

Postby noisy » 28 Dec 2014, 10:53

Currently there is no FS Recorder version for FSX Steam Edition or Prepar3D.

During the last three years I found no time for FS Recorder development and almost no time for flight simming. Currently I can't tell when/if I can continue development, and if there will be a version for FSX Steam or P3D.

FS Recorder is such an amazing tool it's heartbreaking to see it sit in limbo.

Family, life and work are far more important than any add on.

Best wishes,
Jesse

Can I just echo what Jesse said Matthias, it is a shame you don't have time to move recorder forward but family and real lit are more important.
Thank you for FS Recorder so far, I have enjoyed using it from day one.

v1.331 works reasonably well with steam edition, crash detection is the main problem for me.
Any chance of a v1.331 with crash detection always turned off in replay?
Thanks for the great app in any case.

You can make my year by explaining how you accomplished that,,,

FS Recorder 1.3 is mostly based on SimConnect and uses only few hacks.
If it detects an unsupported FS version,
  • it shows a warning at startup
  • disables all hacks (as they would most probably result in a crash to desktop)
  • falls back to SimConnect only
This leads to some limitations, one of them is that crash detection is not turned off automatically during playback (as this needs one of the hacks).

FS Recorder 2.x uses a lot more hacks than 1.3 (the latest alpha versions rely only on hacks and use no more SimConnect), so there is no fallback for unsupported FS versions.

I hope I find some time in the next weeks to get the Steam edition and determine how much effort it is to update FS Recorder for it.

Just a manual install.
I've also ran the legacy Simconnect installers.

Guest,
Gave that a shot, but FSX say's that there where Simconnect issues, but no worries, it may be an issue on my end, thanks for the feedback though! 8)

Noisy,
Sounds like it may be some work ahead, but that would fantastic as well!

Please, make an effort to develop for Steam Edition.

Replaing and taking screenshot without FSRecorder is very difficult! And default replay is bugged.

Any chance to develop a new version?

Thanks so much in advance
